The Names of Allah SWT Contest Guidelines

Scoring Criteria:

• Marks are awarded based on PRONUNCIATION, FLUENCY, CLARITY as well as RHYTHM & DELIVERY.
• PRONUNCIATION & Fluency refer to the correct pronunciation of the names, the sequence, memorization, and fluency of reciting The Names of Allah SWT
• CLARITY of voice and vocal control is essential. This includes the projection of voice and control over high and low tones.
• RHYTHM & DELIVERY will be scored based on the overall delivery of the Names of Allah SWT, the beauty of the voice, the familiarity of rhythm.

Contest Categories:

1. Sisters/Brothers: (9-11) years old, memorization of the names only
2. Sisters/Brothers: (12 -18) years old, memorization of the names and meanings

Why The Names of Allah SWT Contest?

Abu Hurayrah (may Allah be pleased with him) narrated that the Prophet PBUH said: “Allah has ninety-nine names, one hundred less one. Whoever learns them by heart will enter Paradise.” Al-Bukhari (2736) and Muslim (2677)

روى البخاري (2736) ومسلم (2677) عَنْ أَبِي هُرَيْرَةَ رَضِيَ اللَّهُ عَنْهُ أَنَّ رَسُولَ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ قَالَ : ( إِنَّ لِلَّهِ تِسْعَةً وَتِسْعِينَ اسْمًا مِائَةً إِلا وَاحِدًا مَنْ أَحْصَاهَا دَخَلَ الْجَنَّةَ ) .

“Learning by heart”, which is mentioned in the hadeeth, implies the following:

1. Memorizing them.
2. Understanding their meaning.
3. Acting in accordance with the meanings.
